Marrkku Andersson is the President of the City of Jyvasklyla in Finland. |
A graduate of the department of Education and Civil Sciences in the University of Jyaskyla.
Before he took the seat of the mayor of Jyvaskyla he held the post in two other cities: Tussula (1989-1993) and Lappeenrata (1993 – 2004).
In the years 1990-97 he was a member of the working groups of delegates of the Council Of Europe and also a delegate from Finland to the All-European Congress Of Local and Regional Administrations (1990-1997).
He held a seat in the board of the Councill of Regions and Municipalities of Europe. He also was a vice-president of the Central Councill of the University Hospital in Helsinki and the board of the company Keski-Uusimaa ltd.
He currently holds the position of the vice-president of the Management of the National Society of the Local Authorities of Finland and a member of both the Committee of Economic Policy of the Central Chamber of Commerce and Action Committee of Cities and Local Municipalities, the UCLG. Additionally, he represents the city of Jyvaskyla in the Baltic Cities Union.
